MISCONDUCTS & SEND OFFS Always check with your league/assignor to see what is required of you for this part of your responsibilities. Each association/league is different but all require something. It's up to you to find out what is required of you in regards to paperwork. If you've never written up a misconduct report or send off report, please click on "forms & documents" in the left hand column. Under Referee Papers, you'll find exactly what you need to do/know...step by step. We've posted the A & D presentation from '08. FYI...A & D is ASA's Appeals & Discipline Officer, meaning, he's the one that gets the reports. He's the one that needs to visualize what transpired during the match from your write up. He and a few others determine the sit outs, suspensions, justice that is served up. This is a very helpful tool, please use it. Top 5 areas of missed answers on the Grade 8 Referee Test. Here's what you need to know; What happens if there's encroachment on a PK? If the kicker's team mate infringes the law, and the ball goes in the goal, the player gets to RETAKE the kick, if the ball does not go into the goal, the ball goes to the opponents with a IDFK for a restart. If an opponent infringes on the kick and the ball goes into the goal, the goal is good. If the ball does not go into the goal, they get a do over (aka, retake the penalty kick) If both a team mate of the kicker and an opponent both infringe on the kick simultaneously......do over either way if the ball goes in the goal, or does not, retake the kick. The ref gives direction incorrectly for a free kick. Just before the kick is taken, the ref realizes he pointed the wrong direction. What does he do? He/she makes it right (the key is he/she realizes he pointed the wrong way before the ball has been put back into play) He needs to blow his whistle, say, "my bad" (this statement is optional) and point the correct way, allow the defense to set up, you can not allow a quick restart if you've made an error. Blow your whistle when all are ready to resume play. Drop Ball - do you need an opponent from each team for a drop ball? NO, there is no requirement that players from both teams must take part at a dropped ball. However, teams can't surround the ball either. Typically you have two players step up for the drop ball but you do not need one from each team. A team is playing short. when can an additional player br admitted to the field? Sometimes teams have to start short handed, that's ok as long as they can field the minimum required players to start the match. When the late arriving player shows up, he can enter the match when he's properly equipped, checked by the AR or referee. He can enter during a stoppage of play. Or, if the ref has told the AR he can come in when he's ready, the player can enter the game during play.....in BOTH cases, he MUST be beckoned on by the REFEREE. Passback to keeper who punches the ball away. If a player deliberately, intentionally passes the ball back to his keeper with his foot, the keeper can NOT play it with his hands, this means punching it away. A goal keeper infringes Law 12 if he/she touches the ball with the hands directly after it has been DELIBERATELY kicked to him by a teammate. Use of hands and deliberate are the key words as is FOOT. |
