Annual dues - $20 GR 8 and up, GR 9 - $10, Family of 3 or more - $50

Dues go towards door prizes for our Christmas party, Summer Kick Off training/meeting, food for our annual picnic, bank fees, and other items.

You can pay your dues at any of our monthly meetings. More than likely you get your much of your contribution back in freebies from Chick-a-fil-a. They have supported our association for the last 5 years in annual donations of FREE meals for 75 refs EACH year, and a couple of times catering our meetings.

KICK OFF meeting on Sept 3rd at the fields

The Arlington Labor Day Tournament starts that night but there are limited games.  We will incorporate one or two of the existing games as a back drop for our training & discussion.  Topics will include, how to get games, how to keep getting games, how our mentor program will work this year, what we look for in candidates for upgrading, and a few other items.

Please join us Friday - Sept 3 @ 6:30pm, meet at the HP Pavilion

If you are brand new, you will be starting out on the younger age games.  PLEASE show up to this.  We have some words to share with you regarding modified younger age games.

All referees are encouraged to attend.  ALL referees who show up will be given a FREE meal from Chick-fil-a.  This is the 6th straight year that Chick-fil-a has generously supported the Arlington Referee Program.  Once again, they have given us 75 free meal cards, w/the cow attached.  That's a $6.50 value...thank you Chick-fil-a.

For all members of ASRA...we have your t-shirt.  For those of you who haven't received your flip coin, please see Ann Hicks who will have those on hand as well.

We have some extra ASRA flip coins for sale - $4.00ea. If any of you have switched over to the new style of uniforms and have some older ones lying around that are in good shape, and would like to donate, please bring them.  We will pass them on to someone who would greatly appreciate them. Please RSVP to Ann Hicks if you plan on coming out that night.

Referee Appearance and Equipment
1. If you wear a shirt under your uniform...it's BLACK

2. Socks...referee socks only. Some of the younger refs will wear their team socks...please don't, get the referee sock with the stripes at the top or the newest style that have the stripe a bit above the ankle.

3. NO JEWELRY...it's a bit silly when at the coin toss, you remind players, no jewelry, but you or your AR has got on ear rings, or a bracelet...the NO JEWELRY rule applies to the refs. WEDDING RINGS are ok to wear.

4. Have paper and pen/pencil. Assistant Referees, you record the score, the misconduct, you keep a record of the match.

5. Get referee shorts. Females, wear them properly, don't role them at the waist. Males, have the proper length. Don't wear them just above the knees.

6. Wear a watch, preferably one that counts up/down...a digital watch.

7. Hair...NO MOHAWKS guys. Young men and women, if your hair is in your eyes, get a hair cut, we don't want you flipping your head from side to side. It's windy on the fields, even in good days, it's windy. Make sure you can see.

IMPORTANT ROSTER INFORMATION
There is only one type of roster acceptable to ASA.  If you are handed any other variation that doesn't look right, please direct the team mgr to the green barn by field 17.  The board member on duty will give them a blank one for them to fill out.  It's ok to get this by halftime, no need to hold up the game for the roster.  You do need it by halftime.

With the recreational league expanding to include 10 surrounding areas, Let's get them to submit the proper roster.

It's the referee's responsibility to make sure the scores are correct.  If you have your AR's record the score (that's fine) you still must check to make sure both sheets reflect the correct scores.

Where do I buy referee gear?

Order official gear online from OSI....go to their website www.officialsports.com

Can't wait for mail order?
Shop locally at Soccer City on the corner of Mayfield and Cooper in Arlington as another good source for local referee gear.

Did you know: MISCONDUCTS & SEND OFFS

Always check with your league/assignor to see what is required of you for this part of your responsibilities.  Each association/league is different but all require something.  It's up to you to find out what is required of you in regards to paperwork.

If you've never written up a misconduct report or send off report, please click on "forms & documents" in the left hand column.  Under Referee Papers, you'll find exactly what you need to do/know...step by step.  We've posted the A & D presentation from '08.  FYI...A & D is ASA's Appeals & Discipline Officer, meaning, he's the one that gets the reports.  He's the one that needs to visualize what transpired during the match from your write up.  He and a few others determine the sit outs, suspensions, justice that is served up.  This is a very helpful tool, please use it.
